Read the passage and answer the following questions.
             Helmut and Erika Simon were hiking in the snow-capped mountains when they chanced upon the body. Only the shoulders and back of the corpse could be seen. The rest of the body was trapped in the ice. After returning to the Similaun Mountain Lodge where they had spent the previous night, they informed the innkeeper of their discovery.
             Since the body was found along the border between Austria and Italy, the innkeeper dutifully informed both the Italian and Austrian police. The Austrian authorities tried to retrieve the body the following day, a Friday. However, work came to a halt when the jackhammer used to free the body ran out of air. The body was finally recovered on Monday.
             The medical examiners who conducted the autopsy realized that the corpse was not a recent victim of a hiking accident. He had been in the ice for a very long time and was actually a mummy. The next morning, Professor Konrad Spindler, an archaeologist, saw the strange body and the objects found beside it. He realized that the body was at least 4,000 years old.

With great difficulty, he climbed over a beam that was in the way. Then he saw light steaming through a window. Nikolai quickened his steps.
